Redwater boys overcome Hooks

REDWATER, Texas-Redwater's varsity boys overcame Hooks 42-35 Friday night.

Hooks fought in the final period and managed to outscore the Dragons 13-7, but it was not enough to make up the 10 point edge Redwater had in the third frame.

Parker Gravitt led the Dragons (9-9, 3-2) with 12 points.

Hooks (6-11, 4-1) was led by Riley Hamilton who dropped in 10 points.

Redwater travels to Paul Pewitt Tuesday.

The Dragon's JV squad fell 55-47 to Hooks.

Filas Cowgil led Redwater's efforts with 14 points.

 

Hughes Springs 50,
New Boston 45

NEW BOSTON, Texas-Hughes Springs topped New Boston 50-45 Friday night.

The Mustangs (4-1) were led by Chandler King who hit four triples and had a game-high 18 points. Tradarian Craver offered support with 11 points of his own.

The Lions (2-3) were slow out of the gate, suffering an eight point deficit in the first quarter. New Boston rebounded in the second period to make up half of that margin to allow a 26-22 halftime score.

In the second half the teams rallied, each out playing the other in one of the two remaining periods; Hughes Springs took claim to the third quarter, 15-10, and the Lions grabbed the final stanza 13-9. Despite outscoring the Mustangs in the final period New Boston fell short.

Deaundre Robinson and Sam Sanchez tag-teamed leading the Lions, scoring 13 points each.

 

McLeod 54, James Bowie 24

SIMMS, TexasThe Longhorns got off to a fast start, and pitched a shutout in the second quarter while routing the Pirates.

McLeod took a 32-6 lead at halftime, and watched it grow into 30-point victory. The Longhorns were led by Trevor Deel and Zach Prince with 14 points a piece.

The victory was the 20th of the season for the Longhorns, against 6 losses.

 

Girls

McLeod 47, James Bowie 30

SIMMS, Texas-McLeod defeated James Bowie's girls varsity squad at home, 47-30.

Shelby Davis led the Lady Longhorns offensively, scoring 18 points for McLeod.

Sheridan Byram led James Bowie offensively, scoring eight points.

Redwater 48, Hooks 13

REDWATER, Texas-Hooks fell to Redwater on the road in varsity girls action.

Karlee Carmony led the Lady Dragons, scoring a game high 18 points and Bella Fernandez added 14
points.

Kayla Lafayette led the Lady Hornets with three points.

 

Paul Pewitt 50, Daingerfield 38

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas-Paul Pewitt's varsity girls squad triumphed, 50-38, over Daingerfield Friday night.

Ebbony Cobbins scorched the nets with a game-high 32 points for the Lady Brahmas (16-8, 4-3).

Free throws were the second biggest factor Paul Pewitt's win, after Cobbins, as it went 21-30 from the stripe and earned 16 more points than the Lady Tigers in that statistic.

Daingerfield (8-13, 3-4) was led by Mikayla Roberson with 15 points, including two three-pointers.

The Brahmas host Redwater Tuesday; jayvee tips off at 5:00 followed by the varsity.

 

Detroit 46, Maud 40

MAUD, Texas-Detroit skirted past Maud in the final quarter to win, 46-40, Friday night.

Twice, once at the end of the first and once at the end of the third, the game found itself in knots. In the second period the Lady Cardinals took a slight edge 23-21.

The Lady Eagles were led by Jordan Williams who tallied up 18 points for the contest. Mackenzie Miller Complemented Williams efforts with 13 points of her own.

In the final stanza Detroit outscored Maud 12-6 to put the W in the books.

Keyla Mitchell scored 15 points as front-woman for the Cardinals's offense. Brianna Barnette contributed 11 points to the cause.

Maud travels to James Bowie Tuesday for its next match-up.

 

Bloomburg 36, Yantis 30

BLOOMBURG, Texas-The Bloomburg's varsity girls squad remained perfect in district play with their home court win over Yantis.

Haylee Campbell and Trinity Mouser paced the Lady Wildcats offensively, each pouring in 10 points.

 

Queen City 69, DeKalb 13

QUEEN CITY, TexasThe Lady Bulldogs jumped on the Lady Bears early and often on its way to the victory.

After taking a 19-2 first quarter lead, the game was pretty much over, however, the Lady Bulldogs didn't leave anything to chance, as they continued to dismantle the Lady Bears with an 18-3 second quarter, and a 37-5 halftime lead.

They went on to outscore the Lady Bears 32-8 in the second half for the final margin of victory.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by two players who each outscored the whole Lady Bears team. Jessica Jones poured in 30 points, while making 7 treys in the process. Maddie Jones added 14 for the Lady Bulldogs.

 

Fouke 68, Nashville 36

NASHVILLE, Arkansas The Lady Panthers used a big second quarter output to pull away from the Lady Scrappers, and, following a tightly contested third quarter, they had a huge quarter in the fourth to seal the deal.

The Lady Panthers, (15-5) got a huge night from Taylor Hardin who led the way with 30 points, 21 coming on 3-pointers. Malory Oliver added 10, with 3 3-pointers.

Crysta Larey also handed out 9 assists. The Lady Scrappers (8-6) were led by Maddie Miller and Maurdlys Wade with 10 points a piece in the
loss.

 

New Boston 59,
Hughes Springs 33

NEW BOSTON, Texas The Lady Lions won all four quarters on their way to a rout of the Lady Mustangs.

The Lady Lions were never really threatened in this one. They too a 35-20 halftime lead, expanding it to a 49-28 lead at the end of three, and finishing with a 26-point win.

New Boston had four players in double-figures, led by Chloe Davis with 13. Carlee Ratcliff had 11, and Carleigh Reeves and McKenzee Thomas each had 10 in the win.

Idabel Invitational Tournament

IDABEL, Okla.-Texas Middle School defeated North Lamar in a 8th grade game, 32-26.

Javarous Tyson led the Tigers with nine points and Jayden Godwin added eight points.

The 8th grade Tigers will play in the semifinals at 9:15 a.m.

TMS 7th grade squad defeated North Lamar, 29-16.

Caden Grisham led the Tigers with 16 points.

Texas Middle School's 7th grade squad will play in the semifinals at 9 a.m.
