Ashdown tops Mena, maintains unbeaten conference record

ASHDOWN, Ark.-Ashdown's varsity boys kept its unbeaten conference record intact as they took down Mena, 57-48.

John Smith scorched the nets for 20 points for the Panthers and teammate Cullen Young added 16.

Mena's Blake Seels scored a team-high 19 points.

Ashdown (16-5, 10-0) will travel to Prescott on Tuesday.

NHJH teams win 5 of 6

North Heights Junior High's seventh-graders won four games and the eighth-grade teams split on Saturday during the Texarkana Jamboree.

NHJH's seventh-grade A team defeated Fouke and Ashdown, with Seaira Watson finishing with 14 points and Daisa Bulter adding 12.

The B team also went 2-0 as Markia Johnson and Breanna Cleveland led the team with 10 points each in their wins over Fouke and Ashdown.

North Height's eighth-grade B team lost to Fouke and the A team beat the Lady Panthers. Larnya Solomon had 13 points for NHJH while Jamiya Montgomery added five.

 

Red Lick Tournament

RED LICK, Texas-Redwater's eighth-grade boys unseated host Red Lick, 43-33, on Saturday in the Red Lick Tournament championship game.

Jonathan Ketchum scorched the nets for 21 points for the Dragons, and Red Lick's Andrew Snow scored a team-high 10 points.

In the third-place game, Queen City got past Hooks, 42-34, behind Arianar White's 14 points. Jayden Barid also scored 14 points for Hooks.

Redwater started its day off with a 28-26 win over Queen City. Malcolm Brown finished with 12 points for the Dragons, and Imando Hicks scored 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Red Lick began the tournament with a 28-27 win over Hooks, with Andrew Snow scoring 19 points for the Mustangs. Keilon Estes netted nine points for the Hornets.

Redwater also won the seventh-grade tournament after edging Hooks, 31-30, in the championship game.

Noah Whitman scored a team-high eight points for the Dragons' seventh-graders, and Matthew Hays finished with 10 for the Hornets.

Red Lick took the third-place game with a 27-19 win over Queen City. Ben Bricker led the Mustangs with 11 points and Queen City's Logan Das scored eight.

Austin Smith scored seven points as Redwater won a tight contest against Queen City, 20-18, to get their day started. Jermain Drayton finished with 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Hooks defeated host Red Lick, 29-20 in the first game, with Logan Davis scoring 10 points for the Hornets. Mustangs' Landon Hamilton finished with a game-high 13 points.
