Lady Mustangs earn four superlatives

State runner-up Hughes Springs collected four superlatives on the 14-3A All-District Softball Team.

Peyton Blythe was named Most Valuable Player, Marisol Kennedy and Zoe Lanier were selected as Co-Pitcher of the Year, and the Lady Mustangs had the Coaching Staff of the Year with head coach Tisha Thompson, Wayne Mosley and April Breshears.

New Boston nabbed two superlatives, with Haley McAlexander earning Newcomer of the Year and Carlee Ratcliff being honored as the Offensive Player of the Year.

Redwater and Queen City each had a superlative. The Lady Dragons' Savannah Corbell and the Lady Bulldogs' Jacie Lance were chosen Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Hughes Springs had four players named to the first team: infielders Haylee Wilson and Shelbie Fickling, outfielder Pearl Perry and flex player Silvia Montgomery.

Pitcher Bethanee Calicott, infielders Bailey O'Bannon and Sara Easley and outfielder Jordan Walraven were honored on the first team for Redwater.

New Boston infielder Morgan McAlexander and catcher Angel Evans made the first team.

Infielder Kenley Kyles and utility player Marena Estell represented Hooks on the first team along with outfielder Jayley Stringer and designated player Macey Belote of Queen City.

Paul Pewitt's Montana Laney was first-team utility player, while DeKalb outfielder Railey Rankin rounded out the first team.

New Boston and Hughes Springs each had four players chosen for the second team.

Named to the second team for the Lady Lions were pitcher Morgan McAlexander, McKenzee Thomas, Tiera Johnson and Lauren Hurst. Joining them from the Lady Mustangs squad were Kennedi Northam, Abbye McKinney, Kensley Echols and Charlie Reeves.

Sydney Pardue, Lexi Frachiseur, Madison Whisenhunt and Emma Farquhar of Hooks made the second team, as well as Redwater's Keeley Wilbur and Emilee Calicott.

Rounding out the second team were Emily Maxwell of Queen City and Daingerfield's Dee Hall.
