Texas High defeats host Airline in Airline Invitational in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La.-Texas High's baseball squad defeated host Airline in the Airline Invitational in Shreveport Thursday.

Dakota Turner led the Tigers from the plate with one hit and an RBI.

Chris Sutton added a hit and scored twice for THS.

Davis Walker received the win on the hill for Texas High.

Jakob Hearne and Chris Lyles each scored for the Tigers.

 

SOFTBALL

Ashdown 4, Ouachita 3

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.-A late game really was enough for Ashdown to edge Ouachita in the second day of the SWSG Tournament.

VonJoy Thomas led the Lady Panthers from the dish, going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.

Kenya Wilson and Aleya Hill each added a single and RBI apiece for Ashdown.

Angelina McGinn received the win in the circle for the Lady Panthers.

 

TRACK

Arkansas High boys win

PRESCOTT, Ark.-Arkansas High's varsity boys totaled 102 points and won the Army National Guard Wolf Relays at Eddie Jackson Field.

The Hogs finished eight points ahead of second place De Queen. Genoa Central placed third with 62 points.

Magnolia's girls took the gold trophy with 109 points with Genoa Central finishing second with 99, and Arkansas High third with 79.

First-place girls' winners included Arkansas High's Jayda Griffin (110 hurdles), Genoa Central's Carly Eddy, Madelin Knotts, Janie Bentley and Victoria Hill (4x800 relay) and Samantha Cutshall (pole vault), and De Queen's Kennedy Winship (discus).

Boys' first-place participants were Ashdown's Ladarius Bishop (100 meters), Arkansas High's Jaylon Bead (400 meters), De Queen's Hector Hernandez (800 meters and 1600 meters), Trinity Chrisitian's Jkob Martin (3200 meters), De Queen's Tanner Manasco (300 hurdles), Arkansas High's Irijah Price (110 hurdles), and Genoa Central's Ryan Whitehead, Casey Eddy, Jack Jones and Caedmon Kyles (4x800 relay).

In the boys' field events, Arkansas High's Shamon Smith (high jump) placed first as did teammate Irijah Price (triple jump), and Trinity Christian's Rhett Nelson (pole vault). Chris French won the shot put for Ashdown.

 

SUBVARSITY

TMS girls, NH boys win meet

Texas Middle School's 8th grade girls and North Heights' 8th grade boys took home first at the Texas Middle School track
meet.

TMS' girls totaled 158 points, while North Heights was second (112) and Marshall, third (106).

North Heights' boys had 165.5 points, while Atlanta was a close second with 156.5, and TMS third with 112.

Pleasant Grove's 7th grade boys won the meet with 123 points, TMS was second (118) and Atlanta was third (116).

Liberty-Eylau's 7th grade girls won with 151 points, PG was second (126), and Marshall took third (109).
