PG wins nightcap against Spring Hill

Swept away.

Pleasant Grove cruised past Spring Hill in their nightcap of a doubleheader to take a 9-1 victory Friday at Hawk Field.

The coaches on both sides agreed to call the game with two outs in the sixth
inning.

Seth Hopkins would bring in the game's first two score with an RBI single after Jackson Cobb and Ben Harmon reached base on walks. Cobb advanced to second after Spring Hill catcher Jonas Roberts attempted a pick-off that sailed by the first baseman, and later to third when he and Harmon executed a double
steal.

Tripp Bowles fanned four in five innings for the Hawks, Harmon slugged two doubles and Hopkins had a double.

Pleasant Grove went on a tear again in the third with a two-run double by Harmon, who was later brought in from a single by Brandon Hlavinka to increase their lead to 5-0.

After a quite fourth inning from both sides, the Hawks tacked on four more in the fifth.

Keaton Russo led the inning off with a double and then scored after Harmon's two-bagger.
With Harmon on second, Hopkins hit a shot that came a couple of feet away from a home run that
bounced off the wall for the Hawks' third consecutive double. Two batters later, Ryan Galvan was hit by a pitch and later brought home on a Tyler Kelley single for the Hawks' final
score.

In the earlier game, Pleasant Grove survived a late Panther rally in the seventh inning to take a 3-1 win.

Hawks pitcher Nick Voyles pitched a complete game while only allowing four hits and striking out eight, including three in the sixth. Voyles and the defense combined for four innings of retiring the side in
order.
