Carlisle sweeps L-K

LINDALE, Texas-Carlisle swept Linden-Kildare in the regional quarterfinals at Lindale High School, 7-3, and 4-0.

Trent Wert started on the mound in the first game for the Tigers. Wert went six innings, gave up 10 hits and struck out four batters for L-K.

Marty Johnson, Nic Kunze, and Jacob Owen, each drove in runs for the Tigers in the first game.

The Tigers fought tooth and nail in the second contest.

The Indians took an early lead, 1-0, then scattered three runs in the latter innings to seal the victory.

Johnson led the Tigers at the dish going 2 for 3, while teammates Dalton Alford and Trey Schuler, each went 1 for 3 at the plate for L-K.

Jacob Owen started for the Tigers in the nightcap. Owen pitched a complete game, giving up six hits, striking out six batters, while allowing four runs.

Linden-Kildare ends their season 20-6-1 overall.
