Pleasant Grove (25-4) recorded eight hits and took advantage of four errors to take down the Eagles, 6-3, in Game 1 of the Region II, Class 4A regional quarterfinals on Friday night at East Texas Baptist University.
Nick Voyles pitched four scoreless innings for the Hawks before giving up a run in the fifth, while striking out three and only walking two. He tossed six innings and posted the win.
Pleasant Grove's Carson Cox and Jackson Cobb both finished with two hits, and teammates Matthew Gilley and Ben Harmon contributed two RBI apiece. Seth Hopkins also had an RBI in the victory.
The winner of the series will advance to play undefeated Argyle next week in the regional semifinals.
