PG faces familiar foe today

ROCKWALL, Texas-They're becoming postseason rivals.

For the fifth straight year, Pleasant Grove (26-4) and undefeated Argyle will meet up in the playoffs as the two teams clash on the diamond tonight in the Class 4A Region II semifinals at Rockwall High School.

The series will be a single-game elimination, and first pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m.

"Argyle is a great program that is obviously having a good season," Pleasant Grove coach Riley Fincher said. "Our main focus is doing what we need to do to give ourselves an opportunity to win the ballgame."

Nick Voyles, who hasn't lost a game this postseason, will get the start on the mound for the Hawks.

Argyle (32-0) hasn't beaten Pleasant Grove since 2015, and the Hawks come into the series winning 17 of their last 18 games.

"The team is excited about playing," Fincher said. "Our guys know that it's going to be a great atmosphere, with two teams that are familiar with each other."

The winner of tonight's game will advance to play either Crandall or Kilgore in the regional finals next week.
