LAST WEEK: Pleasant Grove was edged by Carthage in the final seconds, 28-21. Pittsburg romped past Rusk, 53-24.

LAST YEAR: The Hawks rolled past the Pirates, 28-10.

GAME FACTS: This is the District 6-4A, Division II opener for both teams. Pleasant Grove and Pittsburg are tied, 9-9, in the all-time series. The Hawks are averaging 426.5 yards per game (299.5 rushing and 127 passing), while the Pirates are averaging 407 yards (214.3 passing and 192.7 rushing). Pleasant Grove has scored an average of 36.5 points per contest while giving up 23.5. Pittsburg has averaged 32.5 points per game and has given up 24.0. Pirate receiver Keontae Burns has 33 catches for 431 yards and three scores, while teammate Keithlen Griffin has made 27 grabs for 431 yards and five TDs. Quarterback Jaylon Jimmerson has hit on 93 of 158 passes for 1,292 yards with 12 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Jimmerson is also Pittsburg's leading rusher with 566 yards on 80 carries and eight TDs. Pleasant Grove QB Ben Harmon is 35 of 67 passing for 754 yards and nine touchdowns in a run-heaving, Wing-T offense. Jackson Cobb is the Hawks' leading receiver with 273 yards on 15 nabs and a pair of scores. Tailback Bruce Garrett and FB James Wiggins are the top rushers for Pleasant Grove. Garrett has carried the ball 82 times for 634 yards and five TDs, while Wiggins has amassed 599 yards on 86 carries with six touchdowns.
