Linden-Kildare rolls over Hawkins

HAWKINS, Texas-Linden-Kildare's 35-point first half was enough for the Tigers to rout Hawkins Friday night, 41-12.

Marquise Jones caught a 52-yard pass from Jacob Owen in the first quarter.

Owen also connected with Red Tyson on a 7-yard pass for the Tigers in the first quarter with 8:51 remaining.

Payton Smith put Hawkins on the scoreboard with his 26-yard run.

Tyson caught his second touchdown of the quarter on a 16-yard pass from Owen, with 4:13 left in the first.

Ladavian Johnson's 42-yard punt return put the Tigers on the board in the second quarter.

Johnson scored two more touchdowns in the game on runs of 13 and 20 yards.

Jeremy Jones caught a 11-yard pass from Smith to give Hawkins their second score of the game in the second quarter.

 

T.K. Gorman 49, Redwater 8

REDWATER, Texas-Bishop Gorman (Tyler) built a 35-0 halftime lead and cruised to the non-district victory over Redwater on the Dragons' homecoming.

Bishop Gorman improves to 3-1 while Redwater stays winless at 0-4.

The Crusaders rolling up 431 yards total offense, with 318 coming through the airways. The Dragons had 215 total yards, but turned the ball over six times while Gorman had zero.

Redwater averted the shutout when Jaxton Feemster scored on a 14-yard run with 8:19 remaining in the third quarter. Garrett Johnson then ran for the 2-point conversion.

 

Waskom 40, Paul Pewitt 28

WASKOM, Texas-Paul Pewitt stayed with Waskom for a half, but the host Wildcats outscored the visitors 26-14 in the last two quarters to knock the Brahmas from the unbeaten ranks.

Both teams are now 3-1 on the season.

Pewitt and Waskom battled to a 14-14 tie at intermission. Cross Holder scored both Brahma touchdowns on runs of 1 and 2 yards. La-Jathan Allen also ran for a 2-point conversion to knock the game with 10 seconds left in the second period.

Waskom took a 21-14 lead through three quarters and then outscored Pewitt 19-14 in the final quarter.

The Brahmas' fourth-quarter touchdowns were by DJ Turner on a 7-yard run and Kadrien Johnson on an 8-yard run. Holder kicked both extra points.

Johnson's score closed the gap to 33-28 with 52 seconds remaining, but Waskom's Detrick Boyd returned the ensuing kickoff 50 yards for a score to seal the victory.

Pewitt finished with 192 yards total offense while Waskom had 294, including 240 on the ground. Both teams had two turnovers.

 

Hooks 45, Cooper 15

COOPER, Texas-Hooks quarterback Connor Price ran for a pair of touchdowns and passed for another to ignite the Hornets to a 45-15 victory over the Cooper Bulldogs on Thursday night.

The Hornets, who built a commanding 32-7 halftime advantage, evened their non-district record at 2-2 with their second straight win.

Price carried the ball seven times for 49 yards, scoring on runs of 17 and 2 yards. He also connected with Jack Dedner on a 19-yard touchdown pass, and had a 2-point conversion to Slate Ruth. He was 10 of 19 passing for 129 yards.

Dedner finished with two touchdowns also, breaking loose on a 75-yard scoring jaunt in a 20-point second quarter.

The Hornets took a 12-0 lead before Cooper cut it to 12-7 early in the second period. Dedner then scored his two TDs and Nathan Vasquez plunged in from a yard out to expand Hooks' lead to 32-7 going into intermission.

The Bulldogs' Zykeus Turner scored his second touchdown of the night on a 58-yard run and added the 2-point conversion run to close the gap to 32-15 with 9:42 left in the third quarter. Turner earlier scored on a 40-yard run.

The Hornets' Mason Vasquez bolted loose for a 38-yard TD run in the third period and Logan Murray scampered 71 yards for Hooks' final touchdown.

The Hornets finished with 474 yards total offense, including 345 on the ground. Hooks' defense also came up with three turnovers, including two fumble recoveries.
