King wants to inculcate winning attitude in students

Liberty-Eylau Independent School District now has a new athletic director.

After spending about 20 minutes in executive session, the Board of Trustees awarded the top athletic post to Klint King during their meeting Thursday evening.

King comes to Texarkana from Richland High School in North Richland Hills, Texas, where he was head football coach. The school is part of Birdville Independent School District.

The new AD said he's honored and excited over his new job.

"I want to be here at Liberty-Eylau, and the thing I want do most of all, is to connect with the kids, build relationships with the kids and give them the best attitudes possible for winning and achieving," King said. "We want everyone to be champions and feel like champions every single day."

King said he developed a true love of sports as a child.

"I grew up watching dad because he was a coach," King said. "I could see the great affect dad hand on me and other kids, and he gave us all a lasting positive attitude about playing hard and giving everything our very best."

In other business, school officials reported that the district presently has 2,462 students.
