TEXARKANA, Texas — Texas High's varsity squad defeated Hallsville Tuesday night at Tiger Gym in five sets, 18-25, 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13.

Bella Cherry led THS with eight kills, 10 assist and seven kills, while teammate Ashanti Northcross added 13 digs.

Logan Pilgreen swatted eight kills, seven digs and 12 points for Texas High in the win.

Hallsville defeated the Lady Tigers in the junior varsity match, 25-18, 25-15.

Olivia Huckabee led THS with nine points.

Hallsville won the freshmen match with Texas High, 25-10, 25-14.

Anna Schultz led the Tigers with four points.

THS is back in action on Friday and Saturday in the Garland varsity volleyball tournament.


Lady Hawks drop season opener

PATTONVILLE, Texas — Things did not go Pleasant Grove's way in their season opener against Prairiland on Tuesday.

The Lady Patriots swept the Lady Hawks, 25-14, 25-18, 25-15, in a varsity volleyball match at Patriot Gym.

Senior Georgia Cobb paced Pleasant Grove with eight kills, while Katie Ferguson added seven.

Emma Boehmke slapped in 14 service points to lead the Hawks' junior varsity to a 21-25, 25-20, 25-21 victory over Prairiland.

Pleasant Grove (0-1) plays in the Longview volleyball tournament on Aug. 8th and 10th.


Lady Leopards top Atlanta in opener

ATLANTA, Texas — Liberty-Eylau's varsity volleyball squad started their season in the win column.

The Lady Leopards defeated Atlanta in five sets, 25-17, 25-14, 22-25, 22-25, 17-15, at Rabbit Gym Tuesday night.

Liberty-Eylau (1-0) is back in action on Friday, hosting New Boston at the Rader Dome, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
