Three teams go undefeated

REDWATER, Texas - Liberty-Eylau, Atlanta and Redwater went undefeated after the first day of the Redwater Spikers' volleyball tournament Thursday.

The action continues Saturday, with teams competing in the championship and challengers' brackets.

Atlanta went 3-0 and are the first seed from Pool A. Hooks (2-1) was second, James Bowie (1-2) third, and Redwater junior varsity (0-3) fourth.

Redwater won all three of its matches and is the top seed from Pool C. Atlanta earned the second seed, Columbia Christian third, and Maud was fourth.

Liberty-Eylau, who did not drop a single set, earned first in Pool B with a 3-0 record, followed by Hughes Springs (2-1) in second, Queen City (1-2) third, and Daingerfield (0-3) fourth.

Redwater did not drop a set on the way to claiming the top seed in Pool C with a 3-0 record. Paul Pewitt was second (2-1), Columbia Christian was third (1-2) and Linden-Kildare finished fourth at 0-3.

The Lady Rabbs and the Lady Leopards each earned byes in the championship bracket.

Redwater plays Hughes Springs at 9 a.m. in the new gym in the championship bracket on Saturday. Hooks takes on Paul Pewitt at 10 a.m.

Atlanta plays the Redwater-Hughes Springs winner at 11 a.m., and Liberty-Eylau takes on the Hooks-Paul Pewitt winner at noon.

 

Pool A

Redwater junior varsity 0

Chloe Caddenhead slapped in eight service points to lead the Lady Pirates over the Lady Dragons, 25-19, 27-25.

Abi Morrow paced Redwater with six points on serve.

 

Atlanta 2, Hooks 0

Callie Dyer served in six winners as the Rabbs swept Hooks, 25-19, 25-22.

Emma Farquhar was the Lady Hornets' top server with five points.

Dyer slapped in nine service points to lead the Lady Rabbs to the 25-20, 25-18 victory over the Dragons.

The Dragons were led by Cambell Warner's six service points.

 

Hooks 2,

Redwater junior varsity 0

In their final match of the day, the Dragons' jayvee was unable to win a set as the Hornets rolled past them, 25-9, 25-16.

Farquhar once again led Hooks at the server's line with 11 points, while Sydney McBride had four service points for Redwater.

 

Hooks 2, James Bowie 0

Eva Johnson turned up the heat as she smacked in 16 service points to lead the Hornets to the 25-23, 27-25 win.

Emily Latham paced the Pirates with nine points on serve.

 

Atlanta 2, James Bowie 1

Dyer served in 12 service points as the Rabbits defeated the Pirates, 22-25, 25-14, 25-14.

Katie Vaughn and Gracie Brown were the top servers for JB with six points each.

 

Pool B

Liberty-Eylau 2, Daingerfield 0

Simaya White served in 15 winners as the Lady Leopards rolled past the Lady Tigers, 25-13, 25-17.

Diamond Jeter had seven service points for Daingerfield.

 

Hughes Springs 2, Queen City 1

Adriana Kennedy slapped in 10 service points, and the Lady Mustangs won, 19-25, 25-20, 25-22.

Tia Wilson had 11 service points for the Lady Bulldogs.

 

Queen City 2, Daingerfield 0

Wilson led the Bulldogs with eight service winners in the 25-21, 25-14 sweep.

Jaylee Barron served in seven points for the Tigers.

 

Liberty-Eylau 2, Hughes Springs 0

Alyssa Littles had 13 service points as the Leopards swept the Mustangs, 25-15, 25-9.

Jacee Short served in three for Hughes Springs.

 

Hughes Springs 2, Daingerfield 0

After being swept, the Mustangs did the sweeping with a 25-14, 25-23 victory over the Tigers.

Kodi Howell slapped in nine points for Hughes Springs, while Kiara Robinson served in seven points for Daingerfield.

 

Liberty-Eylau 2, Queen City 0

Tamara Simpkins paced the Leopards with eight service points, and L-E swept past the Bulldogs, 25-23, 25-21.

Jayley Stringer was Queen City's leading server with eight points.

 

Pool C

Paul Pewitt 2, Columbia Christian 1

Calli Jo Osmond served in 18 points, and the Lady Brahmas went on to the 21-25, 25-19, 25-18 victory.

Madison McGregor paced Columbia Christian with 12 service points.

 

Redwater 2, Linden-Kildare 0

Kyndal Missildine had 12 service points to lead the Dragons over the Lady Tigers, 25-12, 25-4.

Shantly Hawkins and Jessie Haley each served in two points for Linden-Kildare.

 

Redwater 2, Columbia Christian 0

Cooper Frachiseur served in 10 points as the Dragons defeated the Crusaders, 25-8, 25-12.

Katlin Eads had three service points for Columbia.

 

Paul Pewitt 2, Linden-Kildare 0

Jacie Crocker slapped in nine service points, and the Brahmas defeated the Tigers, 25-15, 25-13.

Malia Hinojosa had a team-high four service points for L-K.

 

Columbia Christian 2, Linden-Kildare 1

Eliana Curtis served up 15 points to lead the Crusaders over the Tigers, 21-25, 25-22, 25-15.

Haley was the high-point server for Linden-Kildare with nine points.

 

Redwater 2, Paul Pewitt 0

Sydney Hornbuckle had a game-high eight service points to lead the Dragons to the sweep over the Brahmas.

McKayla Jackson led Paul Pewitt with six points on serve.
