Texas High boys run away with Mav Relays

MARSHALL, Texas-Texas High's boys track squad won the Mav Relays in Marshall, while the Lady Tigers placed second in the girls division.

Seth Willis placed third for THS in the 100-meter dash and teammate Myles Washington placed third in the 200 meter dash.

Kendall Reid won the 400-meter dash for Texas High, while teammate Alex Cannon finished third in the 3200 meter run.

Owen Likins won the 1600 meter run and the 3200-meter run for the Tigers.

Washington, Mason Jones, Seth Willis and Collius Zachery won the 4x100 meter relay for THS.

Jones, Washington, Zachery and K.J. Jackson won the 4x200 meter relay for Texas High.

THS finished first, while Lufkin placed second and Longview finished third in the boys division.

Quartney Walker placed second in the 200-meter dash in the girls division for the Tigers and teammate Kahliyah Anderson finished third.

Jaycee Kennedy won the 400-meter dash for Texas High and teammate Cashlin Gooden placed third in the 100 meter hurdles.

Jayna Harris placed second in the 300-meter hurdles for the Tigers.

Walker, Anderson, Breaja James and D'Aja Dade won the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x200 meter relay for the Tigers.

Gooden, Skyler Johnson, Fezeka Barnes and Emerald King finished third in the 4x400 meter relay for THS.

Longview won the girls division, while Texas High finished second and Nacogdoches placed third.

 

Baseball

Leopards tie twice

HALLSVILLE, Texas-Liberty-Eylau tied Hallsville in their first game of the day in the Hallsville Invitational, 2-2.

Ethan Brooks and Gage Stanley each collected a hit for the Leopards in the first contest.

L-E tied Carthage in the nightcap, 5-5.

Marzavin Riles led the Leopards at the dish with two hits, while teammate Kevin Garcia added a RBI and scored two runs.

Ben Witterstaetter added a single and double for L-E.

 

Redwater splits in tourney

GRAND SALINE, Texas-Mason Robertson laid down a squeeze bunt as Garrett Johnson scored to give Redwater a 3-2 win over Grand Saline in the Dragons' second game of the day at the Grand Saline baseball tournament.

Preston Davis struck out four and had a single for Redwater. Daniel Burns, Silas Cowgill, Robertson, Skeet Roberts, Peyton Davis and Johnson each had a hit for the Dragons.

Burns went 2 for 3 for Redwater, but the Dragons lost their first game of the day, 5-1, to Malakoff.

Peyton Davis had an RBI single, while teammates Robertson and Matt Williams had a single each.

 

Softball

Atlanta 3, Marshall 0

MARSHALL, Texas-Jordan Hodge earned the win in the circle as the Lady Rabbs shut out the Lady Mavs.

Hodge threw four innings, allowed just three hits and struck out one. Atlanta stole home in the first inning for its first run.

The Lady Rabbs did not commit any errors.
