Hornets, Mustangs teams post victories

HOOKS, Texas-Hooks' varsity boys totaled 198 points to win the Mo Parker Relays, while Hughes Springs' varsity girls were first with 109 points at Hornet Stadium on Thursday.

Mount Vernon was second with 145 points, DeKalb was third with 82.6, and Redwater fourth with 55.3 on the boys side.

In the girls division, Queen City was second with 100 points, Hooks third (74), and New Boston fourth (62).

Carter Duncan was the top varsity boys athlete with 33 points, while Queen City's CeCe Walker and New Boston's Chloe Davis tied for the top female athlete with 26 points each.

Logan Murray was first in the 100 meters, followed by a second-place finish from teammate Tanner Pounds for the Hornets.

Duncan won the 200 meters, Leonard Brice earned gold in the 400 meters, Teaondrick Wade was first in the 110 meter hurdles, Jacob Mahar crossed first in the 300 meter hurdles,

Tommy Rigsby crossed the line in second in the 400 meters for Hooks, teammate Michael Ruth was second in the 800 meters. Also for the Hornets, Colton Brown was third in the 300 meter hurdles.

Wade earned silver in the high jump for Hooks, who won the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relays.

Lawson McBain earned gold in the pole vault and finished second for Redwater in the 200 meters.

DeKalb's Laton Van Slyke was second in both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, while teammate Alex Johnson placed third in both the 400 and 800 meters.

The Bears' C.J. Thomas earned first in the long jump, Hooks' Duncan was second, and Josh Long of Redwater third.

Matthew Estes earned gold in the shot put with New Boston's Jamin Powell in second.

Jay Perry had the best throw in the discus for Redwater, and Trevor Deel of McLeod was second.

Marquiz Estell won the triple jump for the Hornets, while the Dragons' Long was second.

Jaden McGray of McLeod was third in both the 1600 and 3200 meter races.

New Boston's Cameron Smith earned bronze in the 110 meter hurdles and silver in the 300 meter hurdles.

For Hughes Springs' girls, Adrianna Kennedy earned gold in the triple jump, Kennedy Smith was third in the 100 meters, Sanariya Davis took bronze (200 meters), and Bailey Sampson crossed second (400 meters).

Macall Strickland earned silver in both the 1600 and 3200 meters, the 4x200 relay team was third, and the 4x400 relay team finished second for the Lady Mustangs.

Hughes Springs' Sampson was second in the long jump, followed by teammate Adrianna Kennedy in third.

Abby Russ won the 100 meters for Hooks, while Tamiya Smith of New Boston was second.

Hailey Sutton had the best pole vault and took home second in the 300 meter hurdles for the Lady Hornets.

DeKalb's Samantha Prince took home bronze in the pole vault.

Walker earned gold in the 200 meters for the Lady Bulldogs, followed by McLeod's Shantasia Reliford in second.

Redwater's Sydney Hornbuckle won both the 1600 and 800 meter races.

Chloe Turner was first in the 400 meters for Redwater, while teammate Sam Wells took bronze in the 1600 meters.

Alyssa Hall was second for the Lady Longhorns in the 800 meters.

Chloe Davis placed first in the 100 meter hurdles for New Boston, and she was third in the 300 meter hurdles. Teammate Brittney Myers crossed the line first in the 300 meter hurdles and was second in the 100 meter hurdles.

Davis won the high jump for the Lady Lions.

Hope Murphy of DeKalb was third in the 400 meters, while teammate Bracee Proctor was third in the 800 meters. Proctor won the 3200 meters for the Lady Bears.

Queen City's McKinlee Russell took bronze in the 100 meters. The Lady Bulldogs took home gold in the 4x200 and 4x400 relays.

Hooks finished second in the 4x100 relay, and Redwater third in the 4x400 relay.

Pha'Necia Larry was the champion of the long jump for Queen City, while teammate Nyla Harrison was runner-up in the triple jump.

Karlee Clark posted a second-place finish in the shot put, while teammate Delana Cobbins was third for the Lady Hornets.

Hooks' Alex Collins earned bronze in the discus, while McLeod's Sibbie Comer was third.

Mount Vernon was first in the junior varsity boys contest with 197.5 points. Queen City earned second with 108, and McLeod was third (78).

Queen City's Ti'Angelo Neal was the top athlete in junior varsity boys division with 28 points.
