Texas High girls, boys run away with home relays

Texas High's varsity girls totaled 121 points, and the Tigers' boys had 96 points as each team was crowned the champion Thursday in the Watty Myers Relays at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park.

Liberty-Eylau placed second in the girls division with 98 points, while Atlanta and Hallsville tied for third with 78 points apiece.

Carthage was second in the boys division with 85 points, Hallsville placed third (82), and Atlanta was fourth (67). Liberty-Eylau totaled 58 points for a fifth-place finish.

Bobbie Hatchett crossed the line first in the 100 meter hurdles (16.21), Cashlin Gooden was second in the 100 hurdles, and Fezeka Barnes was second in the 400 meters for the Lady Tigers.

Amiyah Rone finished second in the 100 meters, while teammate Ashlyn Stiger was third. Emerald King took third in the 400 meters, Gooden crossed the line in third (300 meter hurdles), and Rone and Quartney Walker tied for second in the 200 meters for Texas High.

The Lady Tigers came in third in the 4x100 meter relay.

Chealsea Simmons earned gold in both the 100 and 200 meters, Baylee Bergt earned second in the 3200 meters, and Skylier Bailey took third in the 800 meters for the Lady Leopards.

Liberty-Eylau's girls swept the relays. The Lady Leopards won the 4x100 relay with a 49.06, the 4x200 relay (1:43.19) and the 4x400 relay (4:13.09).

First-place finishers for Atlanta's girls included Hannah Wicks (800 meters), Kadeviuona Andrews (400 meters), and Sheveonia Smith (300 meter hurdles).

For Texas High on the boys side, Owen Likins won three races-the 3200, 1600 and 800 meters.

Myles Washington earned bronze in the 200 meters for the Tigers.

Texas High was second in the 4x100 relay and third in the 4x200 relay.

Korbyn White sped his way to first place for Liberty-Eylau in the 100 meters, Isaiah Cross crossed third in the 300 meter hurdles

The Leopards took home gold in the 4x100 relay (42.03), and the 4x200 relay (1:29.14).

Atlanta's Jaquavius Allen earned first place in the 110 meter hurdles, while teammate Farron Hall was second in the 100 meters. The Rabbits were third in the 4x400 relay.

Cameron Carney placed second in the 800 meters for Atlanta, while Victor Wakefield from Hughes Springs finished third.

The Mustangs' Chandler King won the 400 meters.

Pleasant Grove's Linton Colvin was second in the 400 meters, while teammate Sergio Rodriguez took bronze in the 100 meters.

Hallsville's junior varsity girls took first place with 125 points, followed by Texas High's 102, and Liberty-Eylau's 82.

Texas High won the junior varsity boys contest with 133 points. Second place was Hallsville with 104 points and Atlanta third with 70.
