Pleasant Grove exacts revenge

MARSHALL, Texas-Pleasant Grove ran like a well-oiled machine.

The Hawks shut out Kilgore, 10-0, to win Game 2 of a Class 4A regional quarterfinal baseball playoff Friday at ETBU's Woods Field.

Seth Hopkins walked, moved up to second on a wild pitch, and took third after a pick-off throwing error to second. Hopkins scored when the Bulldogs' catcher threw the ball low and it rolled into left field.

Pleasant Grove took a 7-0 lead into the sixth. The Hawks closed out the game on the run rule as they plated three runs in the bottom part of the frame.

Pleasant Grove scored a run on a wild pitch and two runs on an error.

Hopkins led off the fourth with a triple down the first base line. The ball rolled all the way to the wall as Hopkins dug for third.

Ben Harmon slapped an RBI triple down the third base side to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

Marshall Cox laced in a single to shallow left for another Pleasant Grove run. Galvan bunted, Kilgore's pitcher bobbled the ball and committed a throwing error. Cox went to third and Galvan made it to second.
