Daingerfield claws out share of district lead

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas - Daingerfield scored 16 fourth-quarter points to upset Paul Pewitt, 42-38 Friday night, giving the visiting Tigers a share of the District 11-3A, Div. II football lead.

The host Brahmas took a 32-26 lead into the final period before Daingerfield rallied to the victory.

Pewitt falls to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in district. Daingerfield climbs to 7-2, 5-1.

LaJathan Allen led the Brahmas with 172 yards rushing and a touchdown, Kadrien Johnson rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns and Keiuntray Hawkins for a TD. Pewitt finished with 376 yards total offense, all coming on the ground.

 

Maud 32, Overton 20

MAUD, Texas - Maud's Rayne Bailey rushed for two touchdowns and passed for a third to lead the Cardinals past Overton in a District 10-2A, Div. II game.

Bailey carried the ball 30 times and to gain a game-high 181 yards. He scored on runs of 6 and 3 yards and also passed to Tristen White for a 16-yard score. Bailey also ran for a pair of 2-point conversions.

The Cardinals' other TDs came on Geo Dennis' 5-yard run and Tucker Sanders' 11-yard run. Sanders added a 2-point conversion.

Maud second 16 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a 16-6 halftime lead. The Cardinals finished with 380 yards total offense, including 258 on the ground.

 

James Bowie 38, Clarksville 22

SIMMS, Texas - With 7:29 left in the second quarter, James Bowie's Ethan Fields scored on a 3-yard run to power the Pirates to the 38-22 win.

Duncan Hammonds brought in the 2-point conversion.

The Pirates' Garret Brown added a 1-yard run at 5:16 left in the third quarter and Hammonds made the 2-point conversion.

Hammonds scored three more times on runs of 2s, 3 and 12 yards, with two 2-point conversions.

James Bowie improves to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in district.

James Bowie will play next week at Union Grove.

 

Southwest Arkansas

Centerpoint 35, Horatio 6

HORATIO, Ark. - Centerpoint posted its eight win of the year in defeating the host Lions, 35-6.

Horatio scored its lone touchdown when Lane Moya connected with Wyatt Marshall in the fourth quarter. Moya completed 10 of 39 passes for 231 yards, with Marshall catching five for 135 yards.
