Prescott romps to victory

PRESCOTT, Ark. - Prescott romped to a 60-32 victory over Camden Harmony Grove, putting the Curley Wolves into the driver's seat in the Conference 5-3A football race.

With the Friday night win at Eddie Jackson Field, the Wolves (7-2 overall) stay unbeaten in conference at 6-0 while knocking the Hornets to 7-2, 5-1.

Prescott has a key game at Centerpoint to end the regular season next Friday. The only conference loss for Centerpoint (8-1, 5-1) was 48-14 decision to Harmony Grove.

The win was the Wolves' seventh straight after two season-opening overtime losses to Rison and Mena.

The Wolves led 7-0 at the first break against the Hornets but started to pull away with a 28-18 second-quarter spurt. The hosts outscored Harmony Grove 25-14 in the second half.

Prescott quarterback Jacobi Nolen rushed for two touchdowns and passed for two more. He completed 3-of-6 passes for 135 yards, with Jacayln Zachary catching a 98-yarder and Caleb Harris latching onto a 23-yarder.

Nolen also scored TDs on runs of 1 and 4 yards.

The Wolves' Alex George scored twice on runs of 3 and 1 yards, and Jaylon Hopson had TDs on runs of 6 and 40 yards.

Derriun Thompson closed out the Prescott scoring with a 4-yard run.

The Wolves rolled up 483 yards total offense, with 348 coming on the ground.

Linden-Kildare 28, Beckville 24

LINDEN, Texas - Linden-Kildare quarterback Mason Williams passed for 154 yards and four touchdowns, lifting the host Tigers to the District 11-2A, Div. I win over the Bearcats.

Linden-Kildare improves to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in district while Beckville falls to 2-7, 1-4.

Williams completed 10 of 15 passes and connected with four different receivers for touchdowns. His first TD was a 6-yard throw to Nate Holloway, followed by a 5-yarder to Ashton Harper, a 28-yarder to Da'Vion Tyson, and a 47-yarder to Trey Schuler.

The last strike to Schuler proved to be the game-winner in the fourth quarter, erasing a 24-21 Beckville lead.

LaDavion Johnson rushed for 119 yards on 23 carries to lead the Tiger ground assault. He also ran for a crucial 2-point conversion which gave L-K a 14-10 halftime lead.

Beckville was paced by the rushing attack of Mile Morrison (240 yards) and Ryan Harris (172 yards, three touchdowns).

 

Mount Vernon 56, Redwater 21

MOUNT VERNON, Texas - Mount Vernon built a commanding 49-7 halftime cushion and raced to the District 7-3A, Div. I triumph over the visiting Dragons.

The Tigers climb to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in district while Redwater slips to 1-8, 0-5.

Redwater's Garrett Johnson ran for a score and passed for another. Johnson had a 14-yard TD run and he connected with Nick Fernandez on a 34-yard pass play.

The Dragons' other score came on Anthony Martinez's 14-yard run. Martinez led Redwater's rushing attack with 60 yards on nine carries and Johnson added 43 on five trips.

The Dragons finished with 227 yards total offense, but lost three fumbles.
