Lady Hawks take it to Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, Texas - Pleasant Grove disposed of Pittsburg in straight sets, winning the varsity volleyball match Friday, 25-15, 25-16, 25-13.

The Lady Hawks were paced by Rachael Leach with eight service points and three blocks, Georgia Cobb had seven kills, Ella Nichols 12 digs and Katie Ferguson 12 set assists and five kills.

 

Tigers fall on road

ROYSE CITY, Texas - Texas High dropped a three-set match to Royse City on the road. The Lady Tigers lost 25-20, 25-20, 25-23.

Logan Pilgreen served 16 winners and had 13 digs for Texas High and Ashlyn Stiger had 12 points and nine blocks.

The Tigers also lost the JV match, 25-13, 25-17. Emma Prince and Carrigan Brush had nine points each for THS.

Royse City also won the ninth-grade contest, 25-10, 25-19.

The Tigers will host Mount Plesant on Tuesday.

 

Lions climb to 10-0

NEW BOSTON, Texas - Defending 14-3A champion New Boston extended its district winning streak to 10 in a row with a 26-24, 22-25, 25-20, 25-9 win over Paul Pewitt.

The Lady Lions were propeled by Grace Duffer with 23 assists and 14 service points, Lauren Hurst had 16 kills, Carleigh Reeves eight kills, and Maggie Taylor 15 digs.

The Lady Brahmas were sparked by Hannah McGee with 12 points, Calli Osmon had 13 kills and 22 digs, Destiny Jones 11 kills and 11 digs, Mya Heath 14 digs. Sissy Jones served eight points, 15 assists and totaled 12 digs.

New Boston's next match is Tuesday at Hooks.

 

Hooks rallies to win

ATLANTA, Texas - Hooks lost the first two sets to Atlanta before rallying for a come-from-behind victory over the Lady Rabbs.

The Lady Hornets won 12-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-8.

Hooks' standouts were: Emma Farquhar (19 points, 11 digs, seven kills), Lexie Frachiseur (22 kills, 11 blocks), Eva Johnson (14 points, 13 assists), Alley Jefferson (seven points, 22 digs), Abby Russ (nine kills, 17 digs) and Alyssa Whitten (seven digs, 15 assists).

Hooks will host New Boston on Tuesday.

 

Pirates top Clarksville

SIMMS, Texas - Host James Bowie defeated Clarksville in District 17-2A action, winning 25-13, 25-15, 25-15.

The Lady Pirates were led by Jaycee Littleton with 11 points and 12 kills and Emily Latham added nine assists.

 

Avery stays undefeated

MAUD, Texas - District 17-2A leader Avery defeated Maud in straight sets, 25-22, 25-12, 25-22.

The unbeaten Lady (7-0 district) were ignited by Carley Westbrook with 17 points. The Lady Cardinals' leaders were Haley Yates with 10 points, Brynn Sultz had 21 digs, five points and four blocks, and Alivia Carrell six kills and three blocks.

Avery won the junior varsity match, 25-3, 25-19, behind Jalyn Ingram's 12 points. Macey McDonald served seven points for Maud.
