LAST WEEK: The Tigers (1-1) never trailed during a 28-7 win over Arkansas High in the annual Battle of the Axe game.

THIS WEEK: Texas High has its home opener, hosting Liberty-Eylau.

OFFENSIVE STANDOUTS: RB Tracy Cooper rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers' ground attack, which rolled up 339 yards. Tyrell Miller had 67 yards rushing, and Vontrey Anderson added 47 yards on four carries late in the game. QB Rian Cellars was 6-of-12 passing for 59 yards and a TD to Clayton Smith.

DEFENSIVE STANDOUTS: S Marquavious Fisher had six tackles to lead the Tiger defense, which held AHS to under 100 yards of total offense. LB Javarous Tyson had five tackles and recovered a fumble, and Clayton Smith also had five tackles. Trestin Whitehead added three tackles - all for a loss - and blocked a punt. CB Lajontae Wrightner had an interception.

COACH GERRY STANFORD'S COMMENTS: "You live and die by your fronts - your offensive line and your defensive line. That's what football is at the 5A and 6A level, and at this level of play you've got to have good lines with guys who will be physical and give you everything they've got. We feel good about how our fronts performed."
