Lady Leopards outlast Lady Tigers

TEXARKANA, Texas - Liberty-Eylau's varsity volleyball squad defeated Texas High in five sets, 25-16, 20-25, 17-25, 25-20, 15-11, Friday night in the Rader Dome.

Daycoria Meadows led the Lady Leopards with 11 kills and four digs, ,while teammate Kirsten Stuard added nine digs.

L-E's Tamara Norris ended her night with eight kills and four blocks.

Texas High was paced by Olivia Lower with 21 points, 16 kills and 13 digs, Ashlyn Stiger had 15 points, 13 blocks and 11 kills, Jaycee Kennedy 12 blocks, Valeria Perez 15 points and 19 digs, Logan Pilgreen 21 assists, 16 points and seven kills, and Shakeria Webb 11 blocks and nine kills.

 

Lady Hawks tumble

TEXARKANA, Texas - Pleasant Grove played three close games, but ended up losing to Class 5A Sulphur Springs in straight sets at Hawk Gym.

The visiting Lady Wildcats won 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.

Katie Ferguson led the Lady Hawks with 10 kills, Macy Young had 10 assists, Ella Nichols 10 digs, Lexi Snyder eight digs and Georgia Cobb five kills.

Sulphur Springs won the junior varsity match, 25-14, 25-18, and ninth grade match, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22.

Pleasant Grove plays Tuesday at Mount Vernon.

 

Lions win 14-3A opener

NEW BOSTON, Texas - Maggie Taylor served 18 points and Carleigh Reeves had nine kills and two blocks as New Boston opened District 14-3A play with a straight-set win over DeKalb.

The Lady Lions won 25-21, 25-13, 25-13.

New Boston's other leaders were: Carlee Ratcliff (21 digs), Grace Duffer (14 assists), Haley McAlexander (11 assists), Lauren Hurst (seven kills) and Tamiya Smith (five kills).

Evette Martinez had five service points for the Lady Bears.

New Boston will play its next district match Tuesday at Paul Pewitt.

 

Redwater downs Pewitt

NAPLES-OMAHA, Texas - Redwater's Ashton Holland and Sydney Hornbuckle served 13 and 11 winners, respectively, to lead the Lady Dragons to a 3-1 victory over Paul Pewitt.

Redwater won the District 14-3A opener for both teams, 23-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-23.

Cooper Frachiseur and Kyndal Missildine served nine points each for Redwater.

The Lady Brahmas' Kailyn Jones served nine points and Calli Osmon seven. Destiny Jones paced Pewitt with 24 kills and Osmon had seven, including four solo blocks. Jackie Crocker and Jones combined for 39 assists.

 

Hooks bests Bulldogs

QUEEN CITY, Texas - Hooks dropped the first game, but rallied to win the next three and the match against Queen City.

The Lady Hornets won the District 14-3A opener, 25-20, 20-25, 25-14, 25-20.

Lexi Frachiseur had 10 kills, eight digs, six blocks and five points for Hooks, Abby Russ had 14 digs, nine points and five kills, Alyssa Whitten 28 assists and 13 points, Emma Farquhar 13 digs, six points and six kills, Eva Johnson 14 points and six assists and Alley Jefferson 25 digs and four points.

The Lady Bulldogs' leaders were: Macey Belote (eight points, eight kills, four blocks, four digs); Jaylee Stringer (13 digs, eight points); Tia Wilson (10 kills, seven digs, five points, four blocks); Claire Bates (10 digs, eight points, four kills); Abby Watkins (14 digs, eight points, eight kills); and Kaylon Partain (19 digs).

 

JB wins 17-2A opener

SIMMS, Texas - James Bowie opened District 17-2A action with a victory over Maud, 25-23, 28-26, 25-6.

Gracie Brown had 10 service points for the winners, Katie Vaughn had 12 kills, Emily Latham 11 assists and Sarah Bruce eight digs.

 

Avery wins match

SULPHUR BLUFF, Texas- Taylor Williams made 17 kills and Brianna Bridges served nine points and had 18 assists to lead Avery to a straight-set victory over Sulphur Bluff.

The Lady Bulldogs won 25-16, 25-20, 25-16. It was the District 17-2A opener for both teams.

Emily Lamon had three blocks and Carley Westbrook two aces for Avery, which hosts James Bowie in another district match Tuesday.
