Tiger teams duel for seeding

Texas High and Mount Pleasant will play again tonight

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas-Texas High (23-5) and Mount Pleasant meet for the second time in less than a week today at 7 p.m. to determine seeding for District 16-5A in the softball playoffs.

Mount Pleasant beat THS last Tuesday, 5-4, putting the 16-5A race into a three-way tie for the top spot with Sulphur Springs. Last Friday MP beat the Lady Cats, 5-4, while Texas High blanked Greenville, 5-0, leaving the two with a share of the championship with 10-2 records.

"We beat Mount Pleasant early. And they got us last week; I think the two teams are evenly matched," THS coach Robbie Hatfield said. "Mount Pleasant has a good pitcher and plays good defense just like us, and they can score runs. I know both teams would like to have the top seed."

Tonight's winner at Hughes Springs High School will get North Forney in bi-district play later this week. The loser plays Mesquite Poteet.
