NEW YORK-Danny Duffy beat the Yankees for the second time in a week and rookie Jorge Bonifacio capped a three-run, seventh-inning rally with a go-ahead, two-run homer that led the Kansas City Royals over New York 6-2 on Tuesday night.

Lorenzo Cain, Whit Merrifield and Mike Moustakas also homered late for the Royals, who went deep four times in a span of nine batters.

New York rookie Jordan Montgomery took a one-hit shutout and 2-0 lead into the seventh before a solo homer by Cain, who had been hitless in 14 at-bats.

On the 22nd anniversary of Mariano Rivera's major league debut, the Yankees' usually reliable bullpen flopped: Adam Warren (1-1), Jonathan Holder and Chasen Shreve all allowed long balls.

Home runs by Aaron Hicks in the fourth and Chris Carter in the fifth staked New York to a 2-0 lead against Duffy (4-3).

Twins 2, Orioles 0

BALTIMORE-Ervin Santana pitched a two-hitter for his 10th career shutout, Brian Dozier homered and surging Minnesota beat Baltimore.

After banging out 21 hits in a 14-7 win over Baltimore on Monday, the AL Central-leading Twins relied on exceptional pitching to earn their ninth victory in 13 games.

Santana (7-2) struck out six, walked two and permitted only one runner past first base. The lone hits against the right-hander were a second-inning single by Welington Castillo and a single in the fifth by Jonathan Schoop.

It was Santana's 18th complete game, the second this season. He finished by retiring the last 14 batters.

Minnesota became the first team this season to capture a series at Camden Yards (the Orioles were 7-0-0).

Now 13-5 on the road, the Twins on Wednesday will seek to complete their first three-game sweep in Baltimore since 1996.

Dylan Bundy (5-3) allowed two runs and six hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking three.

Nationals 10, Mariners 1

WASHINGTON-Anthony Rendon homered twice and drove in five runs, Joe Ross returned from the minors to allow one run over a career high-tying eight innings, and Washington routed Seattle.

Bryce Harper added his 14th homer and Jayson Werth hit his seventh off Chris Bergman (1-2), who allowed all of the Nationals' runs and 14 of their 15 hits.

Rendon doubled before his second homer-and seventh of the season-completed an eight-run fourth inning. Ryan Zimmerman also had three hits.

Mike Zunino homered off Ross (2-0) in his return from his own minor league stint. Robinson Cano was hitless in his first game back from the disabled list following a thigh injury as Seattle dropped its fourth straight.

Indians 8, Reds 7

CINCINNATI-Edwin Encarnacion hit two of Cleveland's four homers off rookie Amir Garrett and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, leading the Indians to a7 victory and a split of their two-game series with Cincinnati.

The series moves to Cleveland for two games. The Indians have won seven of the last eight between Ohio's teams.

Carlos Carrasco was in line to move to 5-0 on the road this season, but Cleveland's bullpen had an uncharacteristic meltdown in the seventh. Eugenio Suarez's first career pinch-hit homer-a three-run shot off Bryan Shaw-tied it at 7.

Encarnacion reached on third baseman Scooter Gennett's error in the eighth and came around on a wild pitch by Drew Storen (1-1). Cleveland improved to 18-0 when leading after six innings.

Angels 4, Rays 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-Cameron Maybin and Mike Trout hit back-to-back home runs to begin the game, Matt Shoemaker won his third consecutive start and Los Angeles beat Tampa Bay.

Maybin led off by homering on a 3-1 pitch from Alex Cobb. Trout connected on the next pitch for his 15th homer, including seven in his last 11 games.

Shoemaker (4-2), coming off victories over Detroit and the Chicago White Sox, gave up three hits, three walks and struck out five in 6 1/3 innings. He has won all four career starts against the Rays.

Los Angeles has won seven of nine. The Rays have lost three in a row after a season-high four-game winning streak.

Cobb (4-4) allowed four runs and seven hits over 7 1/3 innings.

Blue Jays 4, Brewers 3

MILWAUKEE-Kendrys Morales hit a two-run homer and Toronto held off Milwaukee.

Six of the first eight Blue Jays batters reached based against Milwaukee starter Jimmy Nelson (2-3). Toronto pushed across two runs in the second, but the Brewers cut down a runner at the plate and Nelson struck out Ezequiel Carrera to limit the damage.

Morales homered to straightaway center in the fifth to make it 4-0.

Nelson gave up four runs and eight hits in five innings.

The Brewers broke through against Toronto starter Joe Biagini in the fifth on Orlando Arcia's run-scoring single. Jonathan Villar drove in a pair with a single later in the inning. Biagini departed after walking Eric Thames but reliever Danny Barnes (1-2) struck out Ryan Braun and Travis Shaw to end the threat.

Biagini allowed three runs and five hits in 4 1/3 innings. Toronto's bullpen didn't allow a run the rest of the game. Roberto Osuna earned his seventh save in 10 chances.

Cubs 4, Giants 1

CHICAGO-Jon Lester pitched a four-hitter for Chicago's first complete game of the season, and the Cubs beat Johnny Cueto and San Francisco in a rainy rematch of last year's playoff opener.

Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run homer as Chicago improved to 5-2 on its nine-game home stand. Kyle Schwarber and Jason Heyward also connected, helping the Cubs bounce back from their 6-4 loss to the Giants on Monday night.

Lester and Cueto hooked up in a memorable pitchers' duel in Game 1 of the NL Division Series last October, with Chicago winning 1-0 on Javier Baez's eighth-inning homer. The Cubs eliminated the Giants in four games and went on to their first World Series title in 108 years.

Lester (3-2) was sharp once again in the low-profile reunion. Cueto (4-4) was just OK, striking out eight in six innings, but surrendering each of Chicago's three homers.

Rockies 8, Phillies 2

PHILADELPHIA-Charlie Blackmon hit a pair of two-run homers, German Marquez tossed six effective innings and Colorado beat Philadelphia.

Gerardo Parra also went deep to help the NL leading-Rockies win their major league-best 17th road game.

Marquez (3-2) allowed one run and seven hits, striking out six.

The Phillies are 4-19 since an 11-9 start.

Zach Eflin (0-2) was roughed up by Blackmon and the Rockies. He gave up eight runs and 10 hits in six innings.

Mets 9, Padres 3

NEW YORK-Michael Conforto homered twice and had a career-high four RBIs, including three on two hits during the Mets' biggest first inning in 13 years, and Matt Harvey won his first home start since getting suspended as New York routed San Diego.

Lucas Duda broke out of a slump with three hits and three RBIs, and manager Terry Collins earned his 500th victory with the Mets. His team got a leadoff homer and a two-run single from Conforto in a seven-run first against Jhoulys Chacin.

Given a huge early cushion, Harvey (3-3) labored through five innings to win for the first time since April 11 at Philadelphia. The embattled former ace was 0-3 in his previous six starts and got banned three days by the Mets after skipping a home game this month following a late night on the town.

Chacin (4-4) got only two outs in the shortest and worst of his 145 career starts over nine major league seasons. He gave up seven runs and eight hits.
