For the second day in a row, inclement weather and a wet course suspended play at the Swing Thought Tour Texarkana Chamber Classic Friday at Northridge Country Club.

Despite the sun coming out in the afternoon, play was halted until today at 8:30 a.m. when the remainder of the first round, originally scheduled for Thursday, will be completed.

With eight groups left to finish the first round, with no more than three holes remaining for any group, officials have scheduled the second round to begin at 9:30 a.m. Upon its completion, the field will be cut to approximately 20 players, and the third round will begin.

Thirty-two players have completed the first round, with Jonathan Hodge of Strawberry Plains, Tenn., and Kent Bulle of Glasgow, Kent., leading the field with 5-under par 66s.

Bulle, who was on the winning pro-am team Wednesday, finished strong with three birdies on his final four holes.

Hodge carded an eagle, six birdies, and two bogeys. Both golfers were among the groups to tee off on No. 10 and finish on the ninth green.

Hodge was 1-over after two holes, even after three, 1-over after four and even after five. He made birdies on No. 12, 14, 15 and 16 with bogeys on 11 and 13 to finish the back-9 at 1-under. On No. 3 he dropped another stroke with his fifth birdie and eagled the par-5 sixth. He also birdied 8 to finish the front-9 at 4-under.

Bulle birdied 12, 14 and then 6, 8 and 9.

Olin Browne of Jupiter, Fla., is a shot back in third with his 4-under 67. Browne, also starting the day on No. 10, birdied 15 and 16, then 1 before a bogey on 3. He recovered to birdie 4 and 6.

Four players are tied for fourth with a 68, and four more are another stroke back at 2-under 69.

Tentatively and weather permitting, the third round is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. today and will play until darkness suspends play. The remainder of the third round and the fourth round will be held Sunday.
