Some teams get all the breaks.
Although Searcy lost, 3-2, to Dierks on Friday
evening, Searcy moved into the winner's bracket of the Dixie 12U tournament when Dierks was disqualified for having illegal players.
Searcy then advanced to play Texarkana, which defeated Ashdown, 5-2, in a morning game Saturday.
In a loser's bracket game, Lafayette County, which lost to Texarkana, 8-7, Friday, shut out Idabel, 7-0, eliminating the Oklahoma team.
Searcy defeated Texarkana, 11-5, Saturday night.
Today's action kicks off at 1 p.m. with Searcy playing Lafayette County and Ashdown playing Texarkana.
The championship game will be at 3:30 p.m.
Texarkana 5, Ashdown 2
Texarkana scored all its runs in the first three innings, scoring two runs each in the first and second, and one in the third.
Ashdown missed a
chance to get back in the
game when its first three
batters reached base on a
walk, infield single and an error by the right-fielder.
But Scott Trumble was able to get out of the jam without Ashdown scoring. Trumble pitched three scoreless innings.
Searcy 11, Texarkana 5
Texarkana got on the board first with a run on two hits in the first
frame.
Billy Davis singled and later scored on Carter Coffey's base
hit.
The local team had three base hits and a walk in the second inning, but scored
only one run for a 2-0 advantage. Landry East, Gunner
Robinson, and Stetson Dixon had a single
each.
Searcy came back with 10 runs on just six hits and four Texarkana errors in the bottom of the
second.
Texarkana made a mild comeback with three runs in the fifth inning.
Dylan Thornton led off with a single and Carter Coffey
drew a base on balls.
Mike Lambert doubled home two runs, and Jackson Shipp singled to score Lambert to pull within,
10-5.
