BRENHAM, Texas-Texarkana has its work cut out for itself.
The Guaranty Bond Texarkana Bulldogs will face League City in a best-of-three series to determine who earns a trip to the American Legion western regionals in Denver on Aug. 2-6.
"I don't know much about League City, but in the past they have been the team to beat," Bulldog head coach Kevin Sutton said. "I knew that League City would be our toughest competition."
In Texarkana's past two games, the Bulldogs have put up 35 runs to just six for the opposition. They also have won against some college teams.
All games start at 10 a.m. The first game of the series is Wednesday at Fireman's Park. Game 2 is slated for Thursday, and Game 3, if needed, is Friday.
"We're young, but we're going in the right direction," Sutton said.
Rory Baugus gets the nod on the hill for Texarkana, and Hayden Hackett will be behind the plate. Rodrigo Zaldivar starts at first, Jakob Hearne is at second and Bryan Moore starts at third. Chris Sutton is the starting shortstop.
In left field is Connor Allred. Chris Lyles is in center, and Slayton Holland gets the nod in right field.
