Texarkana Twins fall to Cane Cutters, 17-10

There were some sparks left over in Spring Lake Park.

The Texarkana Twins fell to the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the first game of the doubleheader Saturday night at Joe Blagg Field, 17-10.

The Cane Cutters jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.

Rhett McCall drove in Chandler Morris and Cole Taylor for the first runs of the contest.

The Twins answered back in the bottom of the first.

Jalynn Keys drove in Avery George to put the twins on the board and Dylan Ditzenberger drove in Keys to tie the game at 2-runs apiece.

Jimmy Cravy started on the hill for the Twins. Cravy went three innings, gave up eight hits and eight runs for the Twins.

The Cane Cutters made sure the game wasn't tied long.

With the bases loaded, Morris hit a 3-run double, driving in Taylor, Preston Faulkner and Nathan Meranda, to give the Cane Cutters the edge, 5-2.

The Twins rallied back in the bottom of the second inning.

Avery George roped a double, driving in Tanner Sparks and Caleb Lasseigne to put the Twins proven by a run, 5-4.

Faulker gave the Cane Cutters a cushion in the third inning with his two-run homerun, 7-4.

Morris added to the Cane Cutters lead a couple of batters later, driving in Meranda for the 4-run lead, 8-4.

Morris ended the night going 5 for 5, driving in five runs and scoring three runs for the Cane Cutters.

Faulkner started the fourth inning rally for the Cane Cutters. Faulkner drove in Nathan Grabryszwski, giving the visitors a 9-4 lead.

Meranda drove in Faulker, compounded on the Cane Cutters lead and Kyle Bell drove in Meranda for his first hit of the game with a RBI-double.

Trey Herrington hit a grand slam in the top of the fifth inning, to give the Cane Cutters a 11-run lead over the Twins, 15-4.

Jake Gray drove in Faulkner to cut into the lead, 15-5.

Lasseigne put the Twins on the board with his sacrifice, driving in Nigel Smith.

Tanner Sparks hit a two-run homerun for the Twins, cutting the lead to seven runs, 15-8.

Sparks finished his night going 1 for 2 with 3 RBI and scored two runs.

The Cane Cutters added 2 more runs at the top of the sixth inning, to edge the Twins, 17-8.

The Twins slashed a few runs from the Cane Cutters lead in the bottom of the sixth.

Hunter Southerland drove in Keys and Gray drove in Dylan Ditzenberger for the Twins 10th run on the ball game.
