Twins' rally falls short

They were down the entire game but never counted out.

The Texarkana Twins rallied with three runs in the ninth to force extra innings but fell to the Acadiana Cane Cutters, 11-10, on Sunday at George Dobson Field.

Texarkana was down 7-4 in the ninth when Cam Hill slugged a clutch three-run triple with two outs to knot the game at 7-all. The Cane Cutters responded by plating four runs in the 11th on a trio of hits, an error and a pair of walks to win the game.

Matt McDonald blasted a three-run triple with an out and the bases loaded in the 11th to put Texarkana within a run, 11-10. But the next two batters struck out and then grounded out to end the game.

Starting Twins pitcher Cannon Davis threw five innings, gave up six runs on 10 hits, struck out three and walked a batter.

Jalynn Keys smashed a solo home run over the left-center field fence to bring the Twins to within four runs, 6-2. Tanner Sparks hit a hard single to the third baseman to score Coltyn Kessler, who had singled on a Texas leaguer, as Texarkana crept closer, 6-3, in the sixth.

Rhett McCall smacked a one-run double in the eighth for the Cane Cutters to give them a 7-3 edge.

Dylan Ditzenberger scored in the eighth to make it 7-4. He reached on a chopper as he beat out the throw to first.

Kyle Bayles, the first batter of the game, blasted a home run over the center field fence to give the Cane Cutters an early 1-0 lead.

Cole Secrest, who doubled in the first, belted a three-run homer to left center to pad Acadiana's lead, 4-0.

The Twins got on the board in the second when Hill, who singled, scored on a passed ball. McDonald also hit a single in the frame.

Preston Faulkner slugged a round-tripper to left center for the Cane Cutters in the third to make it 5-1.

Trey Harrington hit a one-run single in the fifth to score Nathan Grabryszwski, who had doubled down the right field line for Acadiana.
