Twins see-saw with Marshalls, win 11-8

July 20th, 2018 by Brian Tyl in Sports

After a back and forth tug, the Twins ended up with the better end of the stick.

Cam Hill's grand slam lifted the Texarkana Twins over the Texas Marshalls,  11-8.

Hill blasted a shot over the right field fence with the bases loaded to put the Twins up 8-4.

Caleb Lasseigne scored earlier in the frame on an RBI single by Jalynn Keys.  Nigel Smith and the next batter, Peyton Faulkner, each reached on an error to juice the bases for Hill.

Ben Rowden hit a two-run single for the Marshalls in the sixth to make it 8-6.  A batter later, Zavier Moore hit a single to left field as two more runs scored to knot the game at 8-all.

Twins' starter Jimmy Cravey threw 5 2/3 innings, gave up six runs (one was unearned), nine hits, struck out three and walked two.

With the bases loaded in the sixth with two outs, Lasseigne hit an RBI single to give the Twins back the lead, 9-8.

Kessler belted a two-run triple in the seventh to extend Texarkana's lead, 11-8.

Coltyn Kessler sent a hot roller up the middle for a single in the first and moved up to second on a stolen base with two outs.  The Twins failed to get him home.

Avery George singled for Texarkana to right field and stole second base with an out in the second.  Caleb Lasseigne hit an infield single as George moved up to third.  Lasseigne landed on second after a wild pitch.

Nigel Smith hit a two-run single to center to give the Twins an early 2-1 lead.

The Marshalls tied it up with a run in the third.

Hill led off with a single for Texarkana and ended up at third after a stolen base and a wild pitch.  Hill scored on Kessler's single to left center to give the Twins back the lead, 3-2.

Texas put up a pair of runs in the fourth to take back the lead, 4-3.
