Twins stumble at home, 10-8, to Victoria

The Twins are in for the long haul.

The Texarkana Twins fell to the Victoria Generals on Monday night at George Dobson Field in the first of their four-game home-stand, 10-8.

Foster Pace started on the bump for the Twins. Pace went six innings, gave up five runs and gave up nine hits.

The Generals reached the scoreboard first in the top of the opening inning.

Luis Olivier drove in Michael Williams to give them the 1-0 lead, after Williams began the contest with a single for the Generals.

Olivier finished his night going 1 for 4 with a double and 4 RBI.

The Twins were not to be denied.

Texarkana native Gunner Halter stole home plate in the bottom of the first to tie the contest at 1-run apiece.

The Generals answered back the following inning.

Trent Brown hit into a 4-6-3 double play, but drove in Michael Slaten for the Generals during the play.

Cam Hill hit a line drive to right center for a triple and also drove in Peyton Faulker from second base and Garrett Hastings from first, to give the Twins the edge over the Generals, 3-2.

Hill stole home for the fourth run of the game for Twins.

Hill ended his night going 3 for 6, with a triple, double, 2 RBI and two stolen bases for the Twins.

After the Generals walked three Twins batters, Coltyn Kessler took a pitch off the helmet, driving in Hunter Sotherland to give the Twins a comfortable cushion, 5-2.

Nick Barnes hit a line drive triple to the right field gap and was awarded home plate on the errant throw to third base to cut into the Twins lead for the Generals, 5-3.

Pace continued to keep the Generals off the scoreboard and off the base path through the middle innings.

Yaniel Ramos drove in Slaten to slice the Twins edge over the Generals to one run in the top of the sixth inning, 5-4.

Williams hit a sacrifice fly to left field for the Generals, scoring Ramos to tie the contest at 5-all.

Williams hit a line-drive up the middle to drive in Dominic Cox, giving the Generals the edge over the Twins at the top of the eighth inning, 6-5.

Olivier gave the Generals some cushion with his 2 RBI double over the Twins in the middle of the eighth, 8-5.

Zach Howard followed Olivier, with 2 RBI of his own, hitting a 2-run home run over the scoreboard to add to two more runs to the scoreboard over the Twins, 10-5.

Matthew McDonald added a RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth inning, driving in Hunter Sotherland to cut into the Generals' lead, 10-6.

Cody Kessler drove in McDonald for the Twins, adding a run during the rally, 10-7.

Hunter Ditzenberg drove in Halte in the bottom of the ninth to slice into the Generals lead, 10-8.
