VICTORIA, Texas — Texarkana went for the series win against Victoria on Sunday but came up short, 9-1, in Game 2 of the Texas Collegiate League playoffs.

The Twins got off to a fast start when Christian Boulware hit an RBI single to score Reese Durand to make it 1-0.

Michael McElmeel, Texarkana's starting pitcher, did not allow a run through the first four innings, but trouble started in the fifth.

The Generals plated five runs in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead. Victoria tacked on two runs in each the sixth and seventh frames and won, 9-1.

Boulware finished the night at 2 for 4 from the plate. Matt Sesler pitched in relief of McElmeel and gave up two earned runs and two unearned runs.

Texarkana faced Victoria in Game 3 Monday in a winner-take-all game.

The Twins edged the Generals, 2-1, at George Dobson Field in front of a record crowd on Saturday.

The winner faces Brazos Valley in the TCL championship game. The Bombers swept Acadiana, 2-0 and 5-4 (12 innings).
