The Texarkana Bulldogs opened the 4th annual Phil Sandoval Memorial tournament with a convincing victory.
The host Bulldogs took a 6-run lead in the first and went on to 10-run rule the East Texas Prospects, 11-0, in 3 1/2 innings Friday at George Dobson Field.
Hunter Allen scattered three Prospect hits-two to leadoff man Dalton Lowe-to earn the pitching win. Allen threw 63 pitches, struck out one, walked two and hit a batter in four innings.
The Bulldogs sent 11 batters to the plate in the first, taking a 6-0 lead over the Prospects.
Chris Lyles drilled a stand-up triple over the left fielder's head to start the inning, and Marzavian Riles followed with a line-drive triple to left-center. A one-out error scored Riles for a 2-0 lead, and Zane Cox lined a double down the right-field line to drive in another run.
Braden Ross' single to right drove in Cox, and T.J. Krause lined an inside-the-park home run to the left-center gap to make it 6-0 Bulldogs.
Bryan Moore started the host team's second-inning rally with a hard-hit single to left, and he stole second. Chris Sutton grounded a hit to left, and a wild pitch allowed Moore to come home.
Following a one-out hit batsman, Krause singled in a run, and Bryson Rhodes dropped an RBI single into right field for a 10-0 lead.
Riles lined a single to right to lead off the third, and a two-base error put the speedster at third. He scored on Moore's sacrifice fly to left.
Krause had the in-the-park homer and single, and Riles had a triple and single.
The Timber Rattles and Eagles play on George Dobson at 9:30 a.m., the Diamondbacks and Bulldogs play at noon, Pulpwood and the Eagles play at 2:30 p.m., and the Prospects take on Pulpwood at 5 p.m.
The Razorbacks and Timber Rattles play at Joe Blagg at 1:30, while the Razorbacks and Diamondbacks will face off at 4 p.m.
