Wacha, Huff selected in XFL draft | Former prep standouts also played for Cowboys, University of Wyoming

TEXARKANA, Texas - Two Texarkana natives had their name called in the inaugural XFL draft on Tuesday.

Marqueston Huff of Liberty-Eylau and Lucas Wacha of Pleasant Grove were selected on Day 1 of the draft out of a draft pool of 1,000 eligible players.

Both Wacha and Huff, each ended their collegiate careers at the University of Wyoming.

Huff was the 30th defensive back selected by the Houston Roughnecks. Huff was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2014 National Football League draft with the 122nd pick by the Tennessee Titans.

After a two-year stint in Nashville, Huff went to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and most recently with the Dallas Cowboys in 2018.

Wacha was selected as the 49th front defensive player in the draft by the Tampa Bay Vipers. Wacha finished his college career with 344 tackles from 2013-16 for the Cowboys, including 177 solo stops. He was picked up by the Dallas Cowboys as a unrestricted free agent once his career was over in Laramie.

After his stint in Dallas, Wacha was picked up by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. Wacha finished the 2018 season with four defensive tackles, 16 special teams tackles and a interception.

K.D. Cannon of Mount Pleasant was the first skill position player selected in the sixth round by the Los Angeles Wildcats.

Keyarris Garrett of Daingerfield was the first offensive skill position player taken in the eighth round by the Los Angeles Wildcats.
