DeLaughter, Horn card 62 for lead

TEXARKANA, Ark. - The 51st annual Twice as Nice Ladies Invitational opened Wednesday morning at Texarkana Country Club.

After the first day, Vicki DeLaughter and Teresa Horn led the field of 54 two-person teams with a score of 62.

Robin Johnson and Diane Pennington were one stroke back, finishing the best-ball round with a score of 63.

Diane Wills and Paula Yager were in third place with a score of 66.

There was a three-way tie for fourth place between the teams of Lindy Fox and Tanya Magnus, Carla Thompson and Cheryn Boutte, and Nancy Palazetti and Kay Crumpton. Those teams carded scores of 67, five strokes behind the leaders.

Two teams tied for seventh place - Gina O'Neal and Sandy Renner, and Darlene Collins and Pat Tark - with a 68.

Debbie Magee and Lillian Granger were in ninth place, shooting a 70.

Janie Caldwell and Debbie Youngman and Terrie Hefner and Jan Gilmore were in 10th place with a score of 71.

Play resumes today, with the final round this morning at TCC.

Today's round will be a scramble, and the awards will be handed out in the afternoon.
