Service says tornadoes hit DeKalb, near Patmos

DeKalb, Texas-The National Weather Service confirmed the winds that blew the roof off a DeKalb law office was an EF-0 tornado.

An EF-0 tornado with winds between 75 and 85 mph touched down near De Kalb just after 3 p.m. Sunday, according to the NWS. The winds uprooted several trees and tore roofing shingles off numerous houses. A light pole at the city park was snapped and the metal roof was lifted off a downtown building.

A mobile home on County Road 4251 also had some roof damage. Several trees along County Road 3306 were snapped before the tornado lifted.

The NWS also determined an EF-1 with winds between 95 and 105 mph hit near Patmos, Ark., in Hempstead County.

This tornado was on the ground for less than a mile, but it partially lifted the roof off a mobile home along Highway 355 and snapped several trees.

Numerous county roads were underwater as a result of the flash flooding that occurred Sunday.
