WhistleStop Festival to feature art show competition for grades four through 12

Students in grades four through 12 are invited to "Get on Board" the Whistlestop Festival Youth Art Show during the 2016 Whistlestop Festival on April 29 and 30 in Ashdown, Ark.
Cash prizes will be awarded in three categories: grades four and five; grades six through eight; and grades nine through 12, said Carolyn Henderson, spokesperson for the art show.
Entries for the art show will be accepted from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. April 27 at 21 E. Main St., next door to the Two Rivers Museum, and the show will be open to the public for viewing beginning at 5 p.m. April 29 and all day April 30.
Artwork must be on paper, preferably matted, and ready to hang with clamp-style clips provided by the Little River Arts Council, sponsor of the art show. No frames, glass or wet paint will be included, and work must be at least 5 by 7 inches, but no larger than 18 by 24 inches, Henderson said.
Young artists may enter two pieces of art, and there are no entry fees. Each may choose his or her own subject and medium.
Registration and entry packets can be picked up at the Two Rivers Museum on the corner of East Main and U.S. Highway 71 N. in Ashdown, or from the art teachers at Ashdown, Foreman or Horatio schools.
