Bowie County residents celebrated Independence Day with four days of festivities.

Friday evening, the Timberline Speedway treated its crowd with several solid races along with a fireworks show to the delight of all who attended. The Southern United Professional Racing series was in town for the event and added to the enjoyment of all the loyal race fans.

On Saturday, the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce presented its residents and visitors with an afternoon of festivities that lasted well into the evening with a grand finale of fireworks. Food, drinks, vendors and live entertainment were offered along with games for the children and dancing for all those brave enough to show their slick moves.

Sunday, four Redwater churches combined their efforts to put on an evening of fun for the entire family that included indoor games for the children, and live music and free hot dogs for all who arrived hungry. Activities were offered for the young and not-so-young, which included tricycle races and the always-popular dunking booth.

Monday, the town of New Boston came out for the Chamber of Commerce's evening of revelry. Live music, food, drinks and camaraderie were enjoyed by all. U.S. Highway 82 from the pavilion east to Highway 8 was lined with vehicles and families who brought their chairs to get a good seat for the fireworks show.
