Fouke, Ark., man missing since July 5 found dead

Mayor says whole town grieving

The search for a Fouke, Ark., man missing since July 5 ended Sunday with the discovery of his body in a wooded area near his residence.

Brent Dewayne Crabtree, 39, was reported missing by family July 7 by family members concerned at his unexplained absence, according to a press release issued Sunday by the Miller County Sheriff's Office.

Volunteer search teams consisting of the Miller County Emergency Management Office, Miller County Volunteer Fire Department and Bowie County Search and Rescue Canine teams participated.

The Arkansas State Police is assisting in the death investigation as well.

Crabtree's body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Fouke Mayor Terry Purvis said the search ended less than an hour after it began Sunday.

"I am just grieving for that family," Purvis said. "The whole town is just grieving right now."
