HORATIO, Ark.-One of the victims of a double slaying in Sevier County has been identified as the suspect's mother.
Deborah A. Johnson, 66, and Don L. Brown, 70, were found shot to death Saturday afternoon in a field near a home in the 100 block of Cottage Hill Road in Horatio, according to Sevier County Sheriff's Office investigators.
Brown's relationship with the suspect or other victim was not immediately known, authorities said Monday.
Deputies had been called to the home at 3 p.m. Saturday for a report of a disturbance and arrived to find the suspect, Andre Johnson, fleeing the scene. A fire in the field led police to the bodies. Police pursued the suspect to Broken Bow, Okla.
Andre Johnson was shot and killed by Oklahoma law enforcement when he allegedly shot at a police car in Broken Bow. He was pronounced dead at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Okla.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been asked to help investigate the shooting.
A motive in the deaths of Deborah Johnson and Brown remains under investigation. The bodies of both victims have been taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for further examination.
Residents of Horatio took to social media late Saturday to express shock about the crime.
Neighbors said Deborah Johnson was well-liked in the community.
"She was a wonderful person with a great family, and the family needs prayer now," one friend wrote on Facebook.
