Victims identified in Sevier County double homicide

HORATIO, Ark.-The victims in a Sevier County double murder have been identified as Deborah A. Johnson, 66, and Don L. Brown, 70.

The bodies of the victims were found Saturday afternoon in a field outside a home in the 100 block of Cottage Hill Road in Horatio according to investigators with the Sevier County Sheriff's Office.

The victims were the mother and uncle of suspect Andre Johnson, 40.

Both had been shot to death.

Deputies had been called to the home at 3 p.m. Saturday for a report of a disturbance and arrived to find the suspect fleeing the scene. A fire in the field led police to the bodies. Police pursued the suspect to Broken Bow, Okla.

Johnson was shot and killed in by Oklahoma law enforcement when he allegedly shot at a police car in Broken Bow. He was pronounced dead at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been asked to help investigate the shooting.
