Crater of Diamonds to host 'star party'

The Crater of Diamonds State Park near Murfreesboro, Ark., will host a "star party" July 30.
Caleb Howell Crater of Diamonds park superintendent, has granted permission for a one-night-only public star party in the Crater of Diamonds search area starting at 9 p.m., said Betty Coors, a park representative.
"After a hot day of diamond searching, join us for a fun-filled evening under the stars," Coors said.
"We will take a closer look at stars and planets through the telescopes and guidance of volunteer astronomer Rick Floyd of Murfreesboro," she said.
"This special presentation is free and open to the public. Participants should meet at the gate between the Visitor Center and Diamond Springs Water Park by 9 p.m., wear sturdy shoes and bring drinking water, a flashlight, binoculars, and a chair, if desired. The program will last about two hours," Coors said.
