Driver who rear-ended bus is cited for careless driving

The driver of the pickup who crashed into the rear of an Ashdown School District bus was issued a citation of careless and prohibited driving.
The Arkansas State Police issued the citation ticket to Charles Joshua Allen, 26, of Ashdown. A court date of June 8 was assigned to Allen to pay or contest the ticket in the Little River County District Court.
The crash was investigated by Arkansas State Police Trooper Dale Young.
The school bus had stopped about 7 a.m. Friday to allow students to board when the westbound truck driven by Allen hit a rear portion of the bus and then sideswiped the passenger side.
The bus was carrying about 15 students, and three students were hurt. One student was seriously injured and transferred from the Little River Memorial Hospital in Ashdown to a Texarkana hospital for additional treatment. None of the injuries was life-threatening.
The driver of the school bus was Roy Burton.
The wreck occurred about 12 miles west of Ashdown on state Highway 32.
