Cemetery association to celebrate homecoming

The Belleville Cemetery Association will celebrate its 71st annual homecoming at 10:45 a.m. June 5 at the historic Belleville Church near Lockesburg, Ark.

"This year's homecoming will feature guest speaker Stoney Walker, a local Sevier County historian, and the dedication of a Civil War sesquicentennial marker commemorating local men gathering in 1861 at Belleville Church to then march to Arkadelphia to fight with Pettus' Battalion of State Troops," said Steve Cole, a spokesman for the association.

The Belleville Church is two miles south of Lockesburg on Arkansas Highway 317. The services and ceremonies will be from 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

"Anyone is welcome to attend the Belleville Homecoming, and those that do come are encouraged to bring a covered dish and a lawn chair to take part in the homecoming pot luck that will follow the services," he said.
