A Hope, Ark., man was arrested for fatally shooting his brother during an argument early Tuesday morning.

Lee T. Momon, a Hope resident, was arrested for homicide, according to a statement from Hope Assistant Police Chief Kim Tomlin.

At 12:49 a.m. Tuesday, the Hope Police and Pafford EMS responded to an emergency call regarding a shooting at 2108 W. Avenue E.

Willie J. Gulley, 60, was found inside the residence with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead by the Hempstead County Coroner at 1:29 a.m.

The preliminary investigation indicated Gulley committed suicide. But after an initial review of the physical evidence, the ruling was changed to homicide, Tomlin said.

Additional investigation indicated three brothers lived in the residence. Momon and Willie Gulley started arguing and Momon reportedly shot Gulley with a handgun.

At 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Momon, 70, was taken into custody and charged with murder in the first degree by Hope police detectives, Tomlin said. He was placed in the Hempstead County Law Enforcement Center Detention Facility.

Momon is awaiting a probable cause determination and his first court appearance for the alleged homicide, Tomlin said.
