A maid with the Palace Courtyard in De Queen, Ark., discovered a man's body in a room about 1:30 p.m. Friday while she was cleaning rooms, De Queen Police Chief Scott Simmons said.
The police department received an emergency call saying the man in the hotel room was unresponsive.
The 60-year-old man was identified as Danny Shattuck of De Queen. The family has been notified of the death.
Simmons said the cause of death remains unknown. The body was transferred to the Arkansas Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine how Shattuck died.
The Arkansas State Police were requested to help investigate the death, Simmons said.
The motel is near the intersection of U.S. Highways 70-71 in De Queen.
