RED LICK, Texas-Municipal budget planning for the next fiscal year took center stage Thursday at the Red Lick City Council meeting.
Aldermen agreed to hold a budget workshop at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at Red Lick City Hall. The group will discuss among other things, the city's current property tax rate, which stands at just about 1 cent per $100 valuation on real property.
Aldermen also agreed to table action on updating the city's computer system until after the Nov. 7 municipal elections.
In other business, Mayor Pro-Tem Bob Akin announced that residents interested in running for city office on Nov. 7 must file by Aug. 21 between noon and 5 p.m. at city hall.
Alderwoman Lila Murray said she attempted to repair two loosely planted stop signs-one on Howell Street and the other on Norton Street-but she didn't have the proper tools to secure the signs. She added that Alderman Wendell Boozer might try to secure them.
Boozer said that in addition to securing the stop signs, he will trim away any overgrown bushes and vines along Farren Road.
