The Atlanta Public Library held an eclipse party Monday afternoon.

About 100 turned out for the lunar hot dog links, Sun Chips, Moon Pies, drinks, free eclipse glasses and the little matter going on in the sky overhead.

The eclipse was a little "unspectacular." Darkness didn't fall nor did the thermometer plummet. Almost everyone stood in the shade and took a turn at visiting with everyone else.

Atlanta's fire truck and emergency life vehicle were on hand to provide the mobile electrical power to run the fans and keep the ice cold. Some children colored eclipse posters.

But most everyone fiddled with the sunglasses and took a quick look through them to see the moon's shadow turn the sun into a cresent.

That in itself was striking. But if a cloud of any size had passed by, the eclipse exciting the nation would have been humdrum in Cass County.
