Saturday was like a first day of spring last week. The sun was out and so were the people.
From front yards to the city park, from throwing balls to walking dogs, children and adults were outside enjoying the bright weather.
Some leaves are out on the trees even if most flowers are still hiding. Grass is beginning to turn green. Before long, lawnmowers and hedge clippers will be powered up and gardeners will be out in their sunbonnets. Birds will be all around.
Some folks are already filling up or cleaning out their swimming pools.
It won't be long until summer, even if Easter seems still far away. Spring festivals are on their way, too.
Here's how one poet spoke about getting outdoors in spring:
"Too green the springing April grass
Too blue the silver-speckled sky,
For me to linger here, alas,
While happy winds go laughing by,
Wasting the golden hours indoors
Washing windows and scrubbing floors."
