The Ashdown Scholarship Committee encourages potential donors to contribute to the success of new Ashdown High School 2017 graduates in their post-secondary endeavors, said Ronda Pounds, committee chairnwoman.
"Last year, we awarded 52 scholarships with a total value of $27,211," Pounds said. "This brings the total scholarships to over $372,522 awarded to 992 students over the course of our 31-year history."
The scholarship program was formed in 1986.
Pounds also said 100 percent of all donated monies are awarded every year and all donations are tax deductible.
"The scholarship committee has also authorized an alumni fund which former students of Ashdown High School and businesses may contribute to the program in any amount and at any time. Such contributions may be made in honor or memory of friends and loved ones," Pounds said.
Scholarship recipients will be awarded at a tea sponsored by the committee at 2 p.m. April 30 in the Ashdown High School cafeteria. "All donors are welcome at the tea and welcome to participate in presenting the scholarship they are giving if they would like," Pounds said
Contributions must be received by April 1. They may be mailed to or delivered at the Ashdown School District Central Office at 751 Rankin St., Ashdown, AR, 71822.
